Article 2a:
Continuing Education - General Policies
The School of Health Professions shall provide continuing
professional education. Continuing professional education is defined
as a system of educational activities emphasizing courses and
programs offered on a credit or non-credit basis.
- All continuing education activities to be offered
by a program of the School of Health Professions will be approved
by and coordinated with the Director of the School and the Office
of Continuing Education. This policy is in force regardless
of the granting of continuing education units.
- It is reasonable to expect the Office of Continuing
Education to assess a management fee for its services. The fee
shall be negotiated during the planning stage of the activity.
- After expenses related to the activity have been
satisfied, it is reasonable to expect that any excess resources
shall be distributed between the program sponsoring the activity
and the Office of Continuing Education. Details regarding the
distribution of excess resources shall be negotiated during
the planning stage of the activity.
- The Director of Continuing Education may seek
the advice of the Executive Committee of the school regarding
continuing education activities.

Article 2b:
Continuing Education Units
- Continuing Education Units may be awarded to
participants who complete the activity.
- Continuing Education Units may not be considered
as academic credit and may not be applied toward a degree or
a certificate granted by the school.
- Programs in which academic credit is to be granted
must be approved by the program director, Director of Continuing
Education and the Associate Vice-Provost for Extension.
