The MU Department of Communication Science and Disorders is committed to excellence in educational, research, and clinical activities. Educational and research programs include the areas of normal language, speech, and hearing, including physiological, acoustic, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive and social processes, and the diagnosis and treatment of the spectrum of communication disorders. Our professional training programs are designed to develop thoughtful scholars who can engage in creative and flexible clinical problem-solving on the basis of their ability to find and understand relevant information, to critically evaluate information, to integrate information across content areas, and to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts. In addition, the goal of our doctoral program is the development of research scientists who will contribute to the understanding of normal and disordered processes of communication and will further clinical science through their research and teaching.
