Admission Requirements: Master of Health Science (MHS)
- Applications will be accepted from individuals with a baccalaureate degree from any accredited college or university. While a baccalaureate degree in communication science and disorders (CSD) is desirable, we encourage those with baccalaureate degrees in other fields to apply as well. However, if accepted into the MHS program, these students must complete all undergraduate prerequisite coursework in communication science and disorders before beginning graduate-level coursework in the MHS program. Please see information regarding our Non-Traditional Track to the MHS degree.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the most recent 60 hours of undergraduate study is a minimum requirement established by both the Graduate School and the Department.
- The applicant must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Successful applicants typically achieve a combined score of 1000 or better on the Verbal and Quantitative subtests. (Note: GRE scores older than five years will not be accepted.)
- The applicant must submit a personal statement, including achievements, relevant experiences, special interests, goals, etc.
- At the option of the Department a personal interview may be required.
- Applications are reviewed only once a year for each group of applicants. All application materials must be postmarked by the appropriate application deadline. (See Application Procedures.)
- For applicants with baccalaureate degrees in CSD, the application deadline is February 1. If accepted into the program, these students may begin study in either the summer or fall.
- For applicants with baccalaureate degrees in any other field, the application deadline is October 15. These students must begin study in the spring semester following acceptance into the program.
Questions should be directed to Barbara McLay, Director of Graduate Studies.
